一種新興模式的酒店中間商酒店聯合體(Consortium)
        酒店聯合體作為一種新興模式的酒店中間商越來越被人們所接受,隨著連鎖酒店不斷發展,其規模與影響越來越大,在銷售、預訂、經營管理方面都更具有優勢,這對那些獨立的大酒店以及眾多小酒店來說,無疑是很大的威脅,為了提高自身競爭力,與龐大的連鎖酒店相抗衡,它們紛紛聯合起來,成立各種各樣的聯合組織,統稱為酒店聯合體。
    酒店聯合體是指一些具有相似標準的酒店自愿結合起來,共同交納一定費用,集中起來用于共同的促銷、預訂和其他服務。聯合體內的成員酒店使用一個共同標識,建成一套體的形象,以贏得更多的顧客。酒店聯合體的功能有些與酒店連鎖類似,如使用共同的預訂系統,搞聯合的、大規模的促銷活動,實行聯合采購等。不同之處是聯合體的成員酒店在財務、經營管理上是完全獨立的,聯合體或其他成員無權干涉。
        北京酒店VI設計和酒店連鎖一樣,當前世界上的酒店聯合體也是名目繁多,五花八門,不僅組織形式各異,連功能也不盡相同,其規模、條例更是相差很遠。如有的聯合體要求其成員具有相似水準,提供相似的設施與服務,面對一個特定的市場。有的聯合體,其新成員加入需要嚴格的申請、調查、投票等手續;有的聯合體則希望保持穩定的規模與接待能力;而有的聯合體的加入手續比較簡單,要求也并不嚴格,吸納范圍非常廣泛;有的聯合體只吸收獨立的酒店加入,不發展已屬于某一酒店連鎖的成員,有的聯合體則無此限制,但大部分聯合體允許其成員使用其他預訂系統的服務;有的聯合體側重于聯合促銷,有的強調聯合預訂,有的會更注重集體購買,還有的聯合體開辦學校以培訓各成員的員工;總而言之,盡管聯合體之間存在如此多的不同,它們的目的卻是一致的;使那些在國際上沒有代表組織的酒店能吸引更多的顧客來住。實踐證明,酒店聯合體是一種非常成功的形式。
        有這么多的酒店聯合體,它們指多以存在競爭也是難免。因此,酒店聯合體也會由自己的市場定位,有自己的特色與個性,并營造出鮮明的聯合體形象。
        有些酒店聯合體其成員均為經營優良的豪華酒店,聯合體本身也以高品質著稱,這里包括一些酒店聯合體中的佼佼者,如世界最受歡迎酒店組織(Preferred Hotels Worldwide 簡稱PHW)、世界一流酒店組織(The Leading Hotels of the world 簡稱LHW)等。其中,PHW的成員中有在世界最佳酒店排名榜上有名的香港半島酒店、法國巴黎的里茲酒店和布里斯托爾酒店、瑞士的奇蒙酒店以及美國的貝爾艾爾酒店。而LHW則自自詡不主動尋找成員,欲加入者必須自己提出申請。當然兩者均須嚴格的現場調查,董事會投票表決等程序,但一旦加入,則得到高品質的認可和榮譽。中國的廣州白天鵝賓館和北京貴賓樓酒店是LHW的成員,而北京王府酒店則是PHW的成員。
        有的酒店聯合體如美國的最佳西部國際組織(Best Western International)是中檔酒店的聯盟,最佳西部國際雖不如PHW和LHW那樣的豪華高檔,但其規模實力卻絲毫不遜,在世界20家最大的酒店聯合體排名中保持領先。也有專門由小酒店組成的酒店聯合體,如瑞士的就酒店協會就是將小酒店聯合起來,發揮特色經營的優勢,并在預訂、促銷方面集中力量與大酒店連鎖競爭,以謀得一席存在空間。還有的酒店聯合體將廉價酒店(或汽車旅館)組織起來,比較大的有美國的廉價客棧(Budget Host Inns)、友誼客棧(Friendship Inns)和澳大利亞的旗幟客棧(Flag Inns)等。另外,有的酒店聯合體非常有特色,如法國羅基斯與奧伯格(Logis and Auberges de France)是一個規模相當大的家庭旅館聯合體。
        酒店聯合體的特色各有不同,規模不一,而且聯合體內各成員的平均客房數相當很大。如英國航空公司合體的酒店平均客房數最多,為35間;而因特酒店、大別墅和法國羅基斯與奧伯格的成員平均房數較小,分別為55間、31間與6間。盡管它們差距很大,但其酒店VI設計發展的趨勢是一樣迅猛的。
